Feedback Thoughts

Feedback Thoughts

The first article I read was 'Why rejection hurts so much' by Guy Winch.
This article was very well written, a lot of what he said was mostly common knowledge. I liked his advice at the end though where he told us how to boost feelings over social connection. I've never been told how to deal with the feelings of rejection so this was very useful and I might try some of them out sometime.

I also didn't know that feeling hurt from rejection is a survival instinct, I found that part of the article very interesting.

The second article I read was 'A Simple 5-Second Habit to Rewire Your Harshly Self-Critical Brain' by Joel Almeida. I liked this article much more than the first, probably because Joel Almeida was writing from a personal experience.

I think REBS (reality-based self-congratulation) would be very good habit to get yourself into. It's so easy to accept failure and never want to try again. I like that REBS will make you feel good for all the small victories in life, like just starting a project or not giving up when things get tough.

Both articles taught me something new and how to deal with failures in a healthier way.

I haven't received much feedback over the years. The most feedback I got in school was probably in 6th year because we had major exams approaching so teachers were trying to help you improve. Before that though I remember getting good and bad grades and not really knowing why, the only feedback I got were generic comments like 'Well Done' or 'Can do better'.

I hate the feeling of failing so more often than not I don't bother trying or if I do I put in minimal effort so if I do fail it doesn't really matter because I didn't really try anyway. In the last year or so I've been trying to care more and not be scared to try.

The most negative feedback I've been given are the very vague comments I mentioned earlier.

The most positive was probably something constructive that still involved praise but told me where I could improve.

In conclusion I look forward to putting REBS into action in my everyday life and hopefully improving my work ethic by doing so.
