Alpha

Alpha I am finding my game difficult to make. Last week my Unity crashed and I had to download it again for this week it is being very slow and laggy though. I will have to use the computers in college to finish my game if it continues.  So far I have set my scene, I used a package and got new trees. I am finding it difficult to get the lighting correct on them though, I have tried different textures and colours but it stays quite dark All the rubbish packages on the Asset Store cost money so I have used a cube instead of the rubbish for now. I put Jimmy Vegas' code for the Gem collector on it. Currently I am just using the first person perspective player. I do intend to make a third person character I just need to do more research on it. Overall I'm struggling to make my game as Unity is slow and keeps crashing when I do manage to get going on it. For the first time in this module I am finding it a challenge to keep up...

Prototype

Image
Prototype I began to make my terrain for my game. I used the same assets that Jimmy Vegas used for the forest for my game. I just made the trees taller. I used the same scripts I had already made in previous unity tutorials. to collect an object, making a score. I used a gem in the mean time to collect but I will look up how to design objects for unity. I had to follow the tutorials again. I had forgotten a lot of the basics as I hadn't designed anything since the first few videos. It took me a minute to remember how to change the height of the trees.  I left my character as first person controller for now as I haven't designed a tree character yet. I aim to do this on my next tutorial. There was an error somewhere in my code, I am not sure where though so I will revise all the videos I followed and go over my scripts before I continue to build my prototype. Unity Screenshot

Final GDD

Image
Final GDD I  found it hard to talk about my game in depth. The examples I read were all for really complex games and mine is pretty simple in comparison so I wasn't sure how some of the headings would be relevant to my game. My Game GDD has definitely improved from last week, I hope that when reading it you know exactly what my game is and how to play it. After reading comments on my GDD from last week I have decided to keep the name Pollution Dilution  Screenshot of My GDD My DunDoc

Game Design Document

Image
Game Design Document Pollution Dilution is a first person adventure game for PC where you must clean up the planet before mankind destroy it.  This game is based on Global Warming. Can you save the planet? I'm still not 100% sure of the name of my game but for now I'm going with Pollution Dilution but I will most likely change that to something much cooler in the future. My ideas are still similar to last weeks, I've made a few changes to the game and been more specific about controls and the rules of the game in my GDD. I think the idea is now much clearer in my head than it was before. I also know how to make the majority of the game already due to the unity tutorials we've been doing. Game Vision Statement

Image
Game Vision Introduction: Pollution Dilution is a first person adventure game for PC where you must clean up the planet before mankind destroy it. Description: The objective of the game is to clean up as much pollution as possible before your time runs out. You will be dropped into the vast Rain Forest and you must follow the bleeping to find each item before it's too late! The closer you are the louder the bleep.  Your challenge is to beat your score, how many points can you get in the time limit? It's an educational game that's fun. It teaches the importance of our destructive behaviour without getting into science talk. Its a visual learning game. Your character is a tree, symbolising the "Earth's Lungs" you must save the planet by ridding the pollution from your home. Each time you re-spawn in a different position so the game differs each time you play. Your time limit is shown through a thermometer, if you'...

Game Idea Research

Image
Game Idea Research I have decided that I want to go with my first game idea as it's less complex than my other game ideas. I also like the initial visuals I thought of and hopefully I can portray them. The possible game mechanics I want in my game are Block Path, Game Keeps Getting Harder Till You Die, and Game Repeats Till You Die.  I want the tree to not directly fight the enemy (human) but to prevent his actions from hurting his family/rainforest behind him, by preventing the objects from hitting them. The longer you play and the more points you get the game the faster the objects are thrown at you. The game continues until your tree babies/rainforest has been destructed by the objects you failed to collect. I would also possibly like to do an Undirected Exploration under a Timer, so you have to find and clean up the pollution before the time runs out. I used the website below to help me think of possible game mechanics, it also pick...

Game Brainstorm

Game Idea's Game idea 1 : When thinking of ideas for my group project under the theme change I thought of a possible game idea under the given theme, Change. I wanted to make a game on Global Warming. I want to personify a tree and behind him have a different plants and/or animals from the rain forest or maybe just the tree's small children and have a rich evil man throwing plastic bags, burning fuel, spilling oil etc. and the tree has to catch them/inhale them in order to keep the endangered animals/tree family safe from the man. I hope to make this a very simple to use game, with very few  controls. I looked up 'Games About Climate Change' and stumbled across this article. It gave information about causes. I was interested in the game descriptions that they used to teach  kids with.  https://www.legendsoflearning.com/learning-objectives/global-climate-change/ One game was called 'Preventative Measures' I started to  pla...
